Yahoo's free search submit also allows webmasters to submit the location of a textfile which has links to all the URLs in the site, very much like a sitemap. The link to it is at http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request.
With Yahoo's search subscriptions, in order to click through to an article listed on the search results page, the user will need to have a valid subscription that they have secured from News (This service is useful only if News has any content which requires subscription). If they are not logged in to the News site when they click on a search result, they will be prompted for their login information. The subscription results for a user will be displayed above the general web search results. To be one of the content providers you will need to contact Yahoo here : http://search.yahoo.com/subscriptions/contact/partner and a manager from Yahoo will call back.
Yahoo announced a new product named
Site Explorer, http://sitexplorer.search.yahoo.com/
where you can get your linkage data and can also submit URLs.
Site Explorer is not live yet but should be a good thing to
keep tabs on for News. Currently Yahoo indexes the contents
of seven premium sites, including the Wall Street Journal
Online, ConsumerReports.org, the Financial Times, and TheStreet.com.
MSN has just announced its News Bot
beta where publishers can request inclusion through one of
their partner sites at httpnewsbot.msnbc.msn.com/s/publishers.aspx
. News.com.au is listed here already. by Rupali Shah - 15th Sept 2005
